Finally, after a whole year of being unable to attend our favorite cosplay events, we can once again get into our favorite characters and show off our cosplaying skills.  Here at Don Juan Pomade, we know that your ability to mimic your favorite character depends largely on nailing the hairstyle.  Whether cosplaying as an anime character, a superhero, or anything in-between, it is important that you get the hair right so that the look comes together.

Best and Easiest Hairstyles You Can Create to Get Your Anime/Cosplay On!

These awesome and prominent characters who are popular subjects of cosplay are easy to be able to replicate, especially when it comes to unlocking…we mean achieving, their distinctive hairstyles using the products from Don Juan Pomade.

#1: Captain America

What You’ll Need: Don Juan Handcrafted Matte Cream

When Captain America isn’t donning his signature helmet, he’s showing off his glorious hair, and we are noticing that more and more cosplayers are trying to capture his hair sans helmet simply because it looks that good.  So, if you’re going to be wearing a helmet, you want the hair underneath to look the part since there is a good chance you will be taking it off throughout the day.

  1. Grab our Don Juan Handcrafted Matte Cream and a fine-tooth comb.  This cream gives that mattified look that is his signature and has the right hold to keep things in place.
  2. You will need to create a deep side part on the right side of your head.
  3. To do this, run a nice amount of pomade through your hair using your fingers, and use your comb to make the part.
  4. To the left of your part, you will want to comb in a way that lifts the hair up to create some volume at the top.
  5. Then, apply a little more pomade to your fingers and use it to smooth the hair so it looks tidy.

#2: Izuku Midoriya

What You’ll Need: Don Juan Sea Salt Pomade

Anime fans can recognize protagonist Izuku Midoriya from a mile away thanks to the character’s iconic hair, which can easily be recreated using our Don Juan Sea Salt Pomade, that provides the texture and volume needed to make this look possible, thanks to the addition of real sea salt which helps the hair stick up and creates a naturally tousled look.

  1. Grab this pomade and a comb to get started.
  2. Create a side part on the left side of your head, which runs diagonally from the back left corner of the scalp to the center of the front hairline.
  3. Then, apply the pomade liberally to the hair with your fingers, and start fluffing the hair outward to create that signature “fluffy” look.
  4. Take large sections of hair between your fingers and taper these sections as you reach the ends to create extremely large and loose spikes.
  5. Do this all around your head to complete the look.

Note: If you really want to get into character, first you can dye it a dark teal color.

#3: The Joker

What You’ll Need: Don Juan Bela Lugosi as Dracula Pomade

Any man who wants to capture their inner supervillain, this look is for you.  Our Don Juan Bela Lugosi as Dracula Pomade is the perfect formula to help you achieve it, with a medium hold and medium shine that takes the iconic look to a whole new level.  In fact, the Joker and Dracula seem to be hair twins with their slicked back widow’s peak looks that act as their signature hairstyles.

  1. You will need to grab some bright green temporary hair dye and apply it liberally.
  2. Next, grab our hair pomade and a comb.
  3. Now, a key part of the Joker’s look is his widow’s peak, and if you’re really committed to the character, you can shave your hairline to achieve it, although this takes a lot of commitment, so we leave it up to you.
  4. Next, use your fingers to apply a generous amount of pomade to your hair – it’s okay to go a bit overboard here because the slicked back look is all about using a lot of product.
  5. Once your hair feels like it has got a good deal of pomade in it, use your comb to comb the hair back toward the center of the scalp until the hair is fully slicked back.

#4: Tanjiro Kamado

What You’ll Need: Don Juan Hair Grease Pomade

Yet another often-referenced anime character is Tanjiro Kamado, the main protagonist of the fantasy horror manga (and anime series) Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.  Nailing his signature hair is essential if you really want to get into character.  Our Hair Grease Pomade gives a nice shine that captures the essence of this character’s style, while offering the heavy hold that will keep it in place throughout the day.

  1. First, you’ll want to scoop a good amount of pomade into your palm and rub your hands together.
  2. Now, using your fingers rather than a comb, begin to comb back the front hair, combing it off to the left side of your face so that there are some longer pieces framing the forehead.
  3. Continue using your fingers to comb the pomade almost like you’re slicking it back, but instead of combing it to the back of your head, you’re letting it fall along the sides.

Note: This character look can only be achieved if you already have medium-length hair, including in the front.
