A conversation with shop owners Nick & Casper
How long have you been a professional barber for?
Nick: For 6 years I’ve had the pleasure of doing something I truly love.
What got you started in the field of barbering?
Nick: After a term proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps, I was looking for something that could provide the lifestyle and income that could satisfy my life and provide for my family in general. That is where I found the calling in barbering, as it also gave me the opportunity to give back.
Casper: At times we noticed mothers feel uncomfortable at other barber shops. We also wanted to be family-friendly enough for them to bring their sons in our shop with confidence.
What’s the amazing story behind the shop?
Nick: We wanted to create a place that really allows barbers to work as professionals, since this is a professional environment. Still, at the same time, we wanted to encourage men to come into our shop and be themselves. Be that both Casper and I are family men, we wanted to be able to invite young men and encourage manhood.
Favorite Cut or Style?
Nick: I love anything skinfade, especially tapers to nice gentleman-style cuts.
What is your preferred styling product: water pomade, clay, or spray?
Nick: Pomade makes everything look sharp and clean. But if a client has good hair then I can use clay to shape it to their liking.
Any advice to give for anyone looking to become a barber?
Nick: The first thing you need to know is being ready to listen. Then, find a way to add your style to your clients’ wants and needs. Talking about life is just as important as the haircut.
