A lot of us use combs daily, both on our beards and the hair on our heads.  Without combs, we’d be dealing with a tangled mess on a daily basis, and so we consider them absolutely essential.

Now, the thing about combs is that they vary a lot in terms of quality.  Some are more prone to getting broken or damaged than others.  Now, if you want to figure out the best way to keep your comb lasting for a long time to come, this guide is for you.

Tip #1: Clean Them Regularly and Properly

The first thing that you can do is try to keep them clean.  A lot of people don’t know this, but the dirtier your beard, the shorter its life span.  This is for two reasons.  One is that some materials wear down if they’re constantly damp or dirty.  Another reason is because combs that have grime between the teeth must work harder to break up tangles, and this can stress your comb to the point of breaking.

Tip #2: Store Them Carefully

We suggest that you store your comb carefully when it’s not in use.  Don’t just leave it anywhere as it could easily get dropped and crack or chip.  If you’re going to travel with it, we strongly suggest getting a case, or purchasing a comb intended strictly for travel purposes.

Tip #3: Don’t Overuse Them

A lot of us comb more than we need to, which means that we’re unnecessarily stressing our combs excessively.  Ask yourself if you really need to be running that comb through your beard or hair several times each day.

Tip #4: Only Buy Quality Combs

Of course, the best thing that you can do is only purchase combs from a reputable brand known for using quality materials and construction methods.  The better quality your comb, the longer it will last, simply because it was built using superior techniques.

A Good Comb Will Keep Your Beard or Hairstyle Looking Nice

If you want your combs to last, whether they be the combs you use on your head or your beard, follow this guide carefully.  While no comb is guaranteed to last a lifetime, these tips will minimize the risk of having to constantly buy a new one due to improper care or inferior construction.  And, we all want to save money, especially when it comes to maintain our hair and beards.
